Meditation Through Art: May 16-June 6 online course

Japan: Sat May 16, 23, 30 & June 6, 10-11:30am (US/Canada Fri May 15, 22, 29, & June 5 6-7:30pm PST/ 7-8:30pm MST/9-10:30pm EST) Greetings! Please join me in an exploration of meditation using art as the medium.  The course starts with the Mandala, a symbol of both expansion and containment, and continues with exercises that explore life forms, bridges, and more complex mandalas. The text for the course will be “Unfolding Through Art” written by Namgyal Rinpoche, with whom I studied in Japan in 1998 and 2003. The visual exercises in this profound and amazing book will be presented as a meditative path towards gaining greater awareness. From the text: “The purpose of this exploration is not to produce a work of art but to “be” a work of art. Everything you do must be conducive to awakening, to unfolding. This should be the main idea behind your work here. Everything is unfolding you, but it’s good to be consciously involved in the unfoldment that is already taking place.” The course is open to all, regardless of experience with meditation or art.   You will need some simple materials for the class Materials, Zoom, and a Workspace -Colors: […]
