Oceanic Moon, luminescent washi paperwork, 198 x 530 cm 2012, Collection of Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art
The LUMINOSITY: Night Paperworks are created by pouring an image from Japanese handmade paper “washi” that is infused with photo-luminescent pigments. These works look one way by day, and a completely different way at night, retaining a luminous glow that is powered by exposure to light. Showing us the place where something appears out of nothing and then returns to it, we are taken to the edge of our visual perception. Mysterious, quieting and provoking, please see Luminosity: Night Paperworks video.
